My PC Inventory Module Supporting software:

  1. If you plan to use the My PC Inventory module, you will need a media player installed. Windows Media Player will work. If you want to be able to alter the speed, see WinAmp and PaceMaker below. When you click on a play button in Ghillie Tracks, the default program for the type of file you are playing will open. For example, you click to play a recording that is stored as a .mp3 file. If the default program for .mp3 files is Windows Media Player, then Windows Media Player will open and play the .mp3 file.

  2. Recommended media player: WinAmp. It is available free at http://www.winamp.com/player
Ghillie Tracks provides for play and enqueue buttons in a variety of places. The only media player known to support the enqueue function is WinAmp. Enqueue is handy for building a list of recordings to use in class or at a event.

PaceMaker is a free WinAmp plugin that will adjust the playback speed in small increments while maintaining pitch.

    To install WinAmp and PaceMaker:

    1. Download and install WinAmp from http://www.winamp.com/player
    2. Download and install PaceMaker from http://www.surina.net/pacemaker/download.html
    3. Start WinAmp
    4. Right mouse click the title bar of WinAmp, then select "Options", "Preferences", "Plug-ins", "DSP/Effect"
    5. Click on "PaceMaker tempo controller ... "
    6. Click the "Configure active plug-in" button
    7. Do not click "Remove vocals" on in PaceMaker. Its been known to cause distortion for SCD music, and its easy to click on by mistake. Make sure that this button is red, and not green.

  3. You will need software to take the contents of your CD and place it on your hard drive as an .mp3 or other media files. Ghillie Tracks comes with CDex, a free CD ripping program.
